In January 2026 we recalled Lupin Gold 100% Lupin Protein Isolate (350 g and 600 g, best before 01 AUG 26) because testing found gluten that was not declared on the label. The batch we sell now has been tested and gluten was not detected (5 mg/kg or less).
What happened
On 30 January 2026 Lupasaurus Pty Ltd, trading as Lupin Gold, recalled 100% Lupin Protein Isolate in 350 g and 600 g packs with the date marking 01 AUG 26. The product had been sold online across Australia. The recall was published by Food Standards Australia New Zealand and the state food authorities.
Lupin is a legume, not a cereal grain, and contains no gluten by nature. In this case gluten got into the protein during manufacturing, before it reached us. We sell a single-ingredient product to people who read labels closely, so an undeclared allergen is the last thing that should be in the bag. We are sorry it happened.
What we did
- Recalled the affected packs and offered a full refund.
- Put a notice about trace gluten on the website for the rest of that batch.
- Moved to a new batch and had it tested for gluten before selling it.
- Made gluten testing part of every batch. The current batch and every batch after it is tested before it goes on sale.
What we test now
Every batch is now tested for gluten, starting with the current one. Our current batch has tested with no detectable gluten, at a detection limit of 5 mg/kg. The result is printed on the nutrition panel on each product page: 600 g and 350 g.

Is Lupin Gold gluten free now?
